"I have a rather hectic schedule with quite a lot of long-haul travel. I also try to maximise the amount of competitive tennis I can play. Being in my 60s, this means I have to be really careful about how I keep fit and in shape. I’ve had a number of exercise-related injuries as I’ve got older, mainly involving the knees. Working with Richard for nearly 10 years now has been great. He understands what I need to do and is able to craft my programme to achieve it. We work a lot on flexibility, as well as strength and basic fitness. Richard manages it so that my dodgy knees don’t become a problem! Being trained by Richard has been really good for me and has kept me doing what I want to be able to do."

"I started training with Richard about 9 months ago, and at the time I hadn’t been inside of a gym for at least 10 years. Over these past 9 months I’ve lost 10kg, and simultaneously put on a good amount of lean muscle mass.

More important than my weight loss has been the overall improvement in my health, strength, and stamina. I went from feeling completely out of shape with very little motivation to do almost any strenuous activity to feeling like I am in complete control of my physical health.

Apart from the work I do with Richard in the gym, I have started running 5+ miles every weekend and taking yoga classes, which is entirely the result of the confidence and strength that Richard has given me during our sessions.

Richard is my third personal trainer and by far the best. I have finally felt like I am training with someone who really knows what he is doing. I started training with Richard in August 2016 for the purpose of having professional structure and guidance on how to pass the fitness test to join the British Army and attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. I was also keen to work on general strength and conditioning, which was at a reasonable standard having worked and trained as a ski instructor for the last 3 years, but it not where I wanted to be with the tough physical aspects of selection approaching.

In a relatively short period of time I began to notice big improvements thanks to Richard’s help and guidance. In a preliminary test I was able to pinpoint weaknesses that Richard very quickly set right with bespoke plans that he would fine-tune during our weekly sessions and ultimately coached me to a level that surpassed the Army’s entry standard and I was delighted to pass selection in December 2016.

Richard’s constant help, knowledge and expertise were essential to my success without which I don’t think I would have met the standard for entry. Since passing the selection board we have continued to develop my strength and conditioning which is now better than ever before. Richard’s motivation has driven me further than I ever thought possible, and I am extremely pleased with the result!
